At Nebraska Civic Engagement Table, we believe in the transformative power of collaboration. Our partnerships are the cornerstone of our mission, reflecting the collective commitment of organizations dedicated to driving positive change. Together, we amplify our impact, share resources, and work towards a more empowered and engaged Nebraska.

Each partnership is a dynamic relationship, grounded in a shared vision for community empowerment. From local initiatives to broader statewide efforts, these alliances strengthen our capacity to effect change. As you explore our Partnerships page, you’ll discover the diverse organizations that contribute to our collaborative spirit, working hand in hand with us to create a more vibrant and inclusive future for all.

Partners of the Nebraska Table are nonprofit, nonpartisan organizations that don’t conduct direct voter contact or civic engagement activities but wish to be part of our nonprofit network. We work with Partners to foster a culture of year-round civic engagement in Nebraska’s most underrepresented and historically oppressed communities.

Black Men United (founding member)

A founding member, Black Men United is a grassroots organization working with black men of various ages to make sustainable change in the Metropolitan Omaha area. They do this through trainings, programming and events held consistently within their target community. Programs like Real Men Read and Million Father March engage black adult caregivers in the education of their youth. BMU brings community members together around food and conversation at The Hungry Club. In May they welcome the mothers who have lost their children to violence to be united. This provides support for their families as well as raises awareness about the impact of violence. Started in 2003, Black Men United has consistently worked to better the community by bettering it’s black men.

Brain Injury Alliance of Nebraska

The Brain Injury Alliance of Nebraska is committed to creating a better future for all Nebraskans with brain injuries. Serving the brain injury population means working to secure and develop community-based services, providing support groups and access to pertinent information and medical resources and service referrals. It also means educating professionals who work with children and adults with brain injury.

CASA for Douglas County

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) for Douglas County advocates for the best interests of abused and neglected children who fall under the jurisdiction of the Separate Juvenile Court of Douglas County. This mission is accomplished through trained community volunteers. In addition to volunteer recruitment, training, and support, CASA collaborates with other child welfare agencies to address and create solutions for systemic issues and challenges. CASA for Douglas County is also actively engaged in educating the community about the child welfare system through workshops, speaking engagements, and participation in community events.

Coalition for Lifesaving Cures (founding member)

Coalition for Lifesaving Cures, a founding member works to “educate and support stem cell research in Nebraska.” Their website includes an extensive Facts and Myths page regarding stem cell research, therapies and cloning that not only dispels rumors but replaces them with quality and easy to understand information. Additionally, the website includes information about diseases that can be positively influenced by stem cell research. Coalition for Lifesaving Cures also sees the great worth and possibilities within our own communities. They support these folks through, “support for stem cell research through financial donations for statewide elementary school science meets, scholarship awards for collegiate scientists and in 2015, launching a scientific achievement award to scientists or clinicians who demonstrate promise in research.”

Collective For Youth

The Collective for Youth aims to improve after school programs in Omaha by providing quality training to program providers. The three major areas which the Collective for Youth seeks to address are 1) serving area providers, 2) investing in the future, and 3) engaging the community. In 2016 and 2017 the Collective for Youth served 1,700 individuals to help develop after school programs in Omaha.

Community Action of Nebraska

Community Action of Nebraska’s mission is to alleviate poverty by enhancing program development, providing technical assistance, and advocating public policy to support all Community Action Agencies in Nebraska. The Community Action promise is: Community Action changes people’s lives, embodies the spirit of hope, improves communities, and makes America a better place to live. We care about the entire community, and we are dedicated to helping people help themselves and each other. Nebraska is home to nine Community Action Agencies, each with a unique set of services and programs designed to meet the local needs of the communities they serve.

Compassion in Action, Inc.

Compassion In Action connects the dots of society to assist in the recovery of all concerned and supports all efforts to bring families together. This is to break social cycles that foster negative mindsets and violent behavior leading to criminal acts and incarceration. It takes an entire community to break the cycle and Compassion In Action is providing those opportunities for involvement.

Education Rights Counsel

Education Rights Counsel was created from a desire to make education better for students and families by equalizing access to legal advocacy. By establishing a non-profit with very specific education expertise, Education Rights Counsel provides a unique service to a significant community of underserved children. Education Rights Counsel collaborates with other organizations to educate and engage the entire Nebraska community

Health Center Association of Nebraska

The Health Center Association of Nebraska has 7 members in Omaha, Gering, Columbus, Grand Island, Norfolk and Lincoln as well as an associate member in Council Bluffs, Iowa. These Federally Qualified Health Centers are “local, non-profit community owned health care providers serving low income Nebraskans and medically underserved communities.” HCAN works to enhance and expand access to quality, community-responsive health care. HCAN members offer healthcare on a sliding scale to the uninsured of Nebraska they provide “the same high quality, affordable healthcare to anyone regardless of who they are or how much they can pay.” Their website provides resources for both health centers and Nebraskans seeking affordable and quality care. Also importantly they offer links to job possibilities and information on how to get health insurance.

Inclusive Communities (founding member)

Inclusive Communities is a human relations organization confronting prejudice, bigotry and discrimination through educational programs that raise awareness, foster leadership and encourage advocacy for a just and inclusive society.

March for Our Lives Lincoln

March For Our Lives Lincoln is a group of student activists dedicated to youth engagement in politics and gun violence prevention. The chapter works on policy, community organizing, education, and so much more. They take pride in our state but also know there is a lot of room for improvement on the issue of gun control.

Nebraska AIDS Project

Nebraska AIDS Project leads the community in the fight to overcome HIV/AIDS and its stigma through education, supportive services, and advocacy.

Nebraska Scholars Strategy Network

Through partnerships between scholars, the media, policymakers, and civic leaders, Nebraska SSN seeks to contribute to more effective and equitable policymaking. Particular areas of interest include social policy, immigration, poverty and inequality, civic engagement, and governance at the local, state, and national levels.

Nebraskans for the Arts

The main goal of Nebraskans for the Arts is to advocate for the arts, which are essential for life and learning across Nebraska.

Nonprofit Hub

Empowering nonprofits to do more good. — It’s more than a physical space. It’s a support system. It’s a place where you can put your roots to build an unstoppable foundation to be more remarkable.

Panhandle Partnership

We are a non-profit membership-based organization serving the eleven counties of the Panhandle. Since 1998, we have served as a catalyst for collaboration in the development of creative opportunities for enhancing family and community life in Western Nebraska.

Refugee Women Rising

Refugee Women Rising works to develop meaningful relationships with refugees, refugee leaders, and refugee service providers through a continuation of resettlement services and offering practical skills training and cultural programming.

Together Omaha

Together works to prevent and end homelessness through collaboration. They provide emergency resources and case management services to individuals, families, and veterans living in or near homelessness to rebuild housing stability. Together envisions a community of prosperity where everyone experiences safe, affordable housing, food security, health and wellness.

Tri-Faith Initiative

The Tri-Faith Initiative is made up of three Abrahamic faith groups who have chosen to be in relationship together as neighbors on one campus, committed to practicing respect, acceptance and trust. Their mission is Intentionally co-locating Jewish, Christian, and Muslim houses of worship to promote dialogue, transcend differences, foster acceptance, and build bridges of respect and trust.

Union for Contemporary Art

The Union for Contemporary Art is committed to strengthening the creative culture of the greater Omaha area by providing direct support to local artists and increasing the visibility of contemporary art forms in our community. In every endeavor, they strive to unite artists and the community to inspire positive social change in North Omaha. The organization was founded on the belief that the arts can be a vehicle for social justice and greater civic engagement; the Union for Contemporary Art strives to utilize the arts as a bridge to connect our diverse community in innovative and meaningful ways.

University of Nebraska-Lincoln Office of Student Leadership, Involvement, & Community Engagement

SLICE integrates in- and out-of-class learning to provide positive experiences through programs, services, and events. From starting or leading an organization to helping peers register to vote, planning campus-wide events and engaging with the Lincoln community, SLICE helps UNL students explore their talents, interests and passions.

Yazda - Yazidi Cultural Center

Yazda is dedicated to Yazidi and other communities under persecution because of their identity or belief. Yazda's mission is to ensure the safety and well-being of victims of genocide and enslavement through various means, including humanitarian, community, and advocacy efforts. While Yazda was established to support the Yazidi community, its mission is to provide assistance and support to communities facing persecution.

Young Nonprofit Professionals Network Greater Omaha

The Young Nonprofit Professionals Network of Greater Omaha promotes interests, and builds opportunities for social and professional development for emerging leaders in Greater Omaha.
